First and foremost…UCONN!!! As a proud UConn alum, I was beyond thrilled to see the Huskies win the National Championship title last night. I was there in 2004 when both the men’s and women’s basketball teams take home the title and now (10 years later) it could be possible again. So good luck to the woman tonight and a HUGE congrats to the men! Husky Pride!
Side Note: Not a huge fan of the new logo…but I guess you can’t win them all.
After a super exciting night, I am also super excited that Sweetgreen moved into Fort Point…right down the street from my office!
OMG Sweetgreen! How did I live without it? There is a solid chance I start Sweetgreen-ing it up multiple times a week. The Sweetgreen in Fort Point opened last Wednesday and I hit it up for lunch on Thursday.
I assumed the line would be long (I was right) but I was more than willing to wait.
Inside the restaurant had a cool, industrial vibe but still felt very comforting. I was picking mine up to-go this time but I would love to stay an eat-in some day (maybe this week).
Once inside, the line snacked around the restaurant which I was happy about because I couldn’t decide what I wanted Everything on the menu sounded amazing and I knew I couldn’t go wrong with whatever I chose.
I noticed this sign listing all of the locally sourced items and made a mental note to remember to add sprouts to whichever salad I decided on.
At this point I was finally ready to order, I chose the Chic-P (pronounced sheek-p). My salad was prepared with organic mesclun greens, organic baby spinach, baked falafel, chickpeas, cucumbers, green and red bell peppers and pita chips. I remember to ask for spouts as well!
(Source: Sweetgreen, but I did some editing to add the sprout and change the dressing)
Usually this salad comes with lemon tahini dressing but I am not a huge fan of tahini based dressings so I subbed it out for the lime cilantro jalapeno dressing. It was maybe my favorite salad ever!
I also ordered a classic lemonade and drank most of it before I got back to the office. It wasn’t too sweet and very fresh tasting, just the way I like it. I can’t wait to try the rest of their drinks but it will be hard to beat the lemonade.
Before I knew it my entire salad was gone 😦 It was delicious and I can’t wait to go back and try everything else on the menu.
Welcome to my hood Sweetgreen. I am extremely happy to have you!
