Now that I am in a weird point between training for events I am considering doing a cleanse. A juice cleanse that is. I’m not looking to go all out and pull a Joe Cross and drink only juice for like EVER (while traveling across the country). I am thinking maybe 3 days or maybe only one day. Committing to a cleanse is just as scary to me as signing up for a half marathon but it’s something I’ve wanted to try and summer might be a good time to do it.
I would never consider doing a cleanse while training because I know my body and I know it needs more than just juice when I’m swimming, biking and running like crazy. Who knows, my body might need more than just juice even in a “down” time. We will see!
I’ve done some research on different cleanses that seem to work with my tastes and my activity level. Here is one that I am considering –
Suja Classic Fresh Start
This cleanse has 1, 3 and 5 day options. I would opt for the 1 or 3 days option because 5 days without food sounds pretty unbearable. This cleanse includes 6 juices and the website gives you a schedule on when to consume each juice.

All of these juices sound delicious but I think I would love the Purify because I have been LOVING juices with beet in them lately. This three-day cleanse costs $162 + shipping which brings it to over $250. Yikes! This isn’t out of the ordinary for cleanse (so I’ve found).

This is one that really excites me for a few reasons one being the fact that I’ve seen Suja on multiple blogs I read/follow and that I’ve seen their products at Whole Foods. I feel like I trust the company because of it. Weird…maybe, but that’s just how I feel.
I also liked that the Suja website talks about what to do pre and post cleanse. They recommend eliminating coffee, alcohol, dairy, red meat, sugar and white flour products a few days before the cleanse. I probably wouldn’t have thought of this without reading it but its important. I tried a different cleanse a couple years ago and it didn’t go too well. I am thinking it was because I didn’t properly prepare pre-cleanse.
Post-cleanse, Suja recommends slowly easing back into your normal routine by introducing gentle foods first. Think smoothies, soups, salads and light proteins like beans and steamed fish. This would be fairly easy for me as I eat these foods on the reg.
So far so good Suja. You are in the running for my first real juice cleanse. I will look at a few more options in the coming days.
Wow, this juice cleanse sounds amazing. I love the flavors. Have a great day!!
