I stumbled upon What I Instagrammed vs. What Was Really Happening, or My Entire Life is a Lie last week and found it so true and so funny. It even made my Friday Favorites. I follow a lot of types of people/companies on Instagram and I love seeing all the different pix and videos people post. I also love posting myself (but not pictures of myself, which I only do sometimes.) I thought it would be fun to compare my own life (boring) with my Instagram life like Olivia did.
1. The I Obviously Spend My Whole Day Working Out Photo

If I have three pairs of brightly colored sneaks right by the door for the multiples time of the day I run out of the house and to the gym for a workout. I am a triathlete and a half marathoner, obviously I workout all day every day.
Real Life…
Ugh, these shoes have been there for a week know. Someday I have to bring them upstairs where they belong. Maybe if I trip over them one more time coming in the house after work and school (pic was taken while I was still MBAing) I’ll actually pick them up.
2. The I Eat Healthy (Expensive) Lunches Snap

My work days are nice and leisurely; I go to whole foods for my hand pressed juice, fresh sushi and healthy soda. I even sit outside in the sun.
Real Life…
Damn that juice was good but it was $7…WTF?! The sushi was so good too but it was $7 and I was still hungry after. Oh, and I wasn’t working that day but SL was and I was bored to shit and bummed to be eating an expensive lunch alone.
3. I Am Getting on My Environmental Soap Box Shot

Who would dare still use styrofoam? Doesn’t everyone know that the stuff kills whales and breaks down the ozone layer? I would never even think of spending my money somewhere that uses styrofoam.
Real Life…
I honestly don’t purposefully buy anything in styrofoam but you know what…sometimes it just happens. Sorry Earth, I am not perfect and I probably never will be.
4. My Pet is So Much Cooler Than Your Pet Picture

My dog is obviously way to cool for IG, he seriously can’t bear to have his beautiful face splashed all over social media for the world to see.
Real Life…
Curtis has more personality than any other dog I’ve had. He loves attention and would be happy to know that this picture is one of my most liked picture on IG this year. He’s such a ham.
5. The Hidden Selfie Shot

It’s just a shot on my computer showing how productive I am 24/7…oh, wait. Nope, it’s a hidden selfie! Here I am working away at (insert random WFH location here) and I just so happened to catch a cute semi-selfie completely unintentionally!
