Today was super busy for a Thursday, hence the super late post. But I have a fun recipe for you to make up for it! I don’t own a juicer (I’ll probably add one to the registry for the wedding though!) but I do have a blender and I figured whipping up a smoothie/juice would be manageable.
This is not a typical sweet smoothie and way more closely resembles a super-healthy tasting green juice but SL even loved it so I know its a winner.
Spicy Green Juice
Ingredients:
- 2 stalks of celery, cut into 2″ chunks
- 2″ cucumber, quartered
- handful of spinach or kale (about 2 cups)
- 1/2 banana
- 1/2 fruit (I have used pineapple, frozen mixed fruit, peaches…play around here and see what you like)
- 1 cup coconut water
- juice from 1/2 lemon
- Dash of cayenne pepper
Directions:
- Put everything in the blender and blend on high until fully blended together
This juice is full of health. It’s basically health in a glass.
Cayenne, if you can handle the heat, has some health benefits too. It is said to stimulate circulation, neutralize acidity in your body and has metabolism boosting powers! I love all things hot and spicy so I added a couple of dashs of this strong spice to my juice but feel free to start small and see what works for you!
If you aren’t into juices/smoothies when a traditional green taste, check out my some of my other sweeter smoothies:
Mhm, the cayenne sounds interesting! I actually love ginger in my juice. If you’re a fan of that taste, it really kicks things up a notch.
I’ll have to try that too!
