OMG…we bought a house!
Let’s rewind a bit…
SL and I started house hunting back in January and have been to over fifty open houses, looked at hundreds of houses online and religiously checked our inboxes for more houses coming on the market. During the sprint and early summer there were tons of options but we never found that one house that felt like our house, our home.
We have lived in the condo SL bought right before we started dating but it never really felt like my home. It was his in all sense of the word. The furniture was his style, the area rug were his style, the chotchkies EVERYWHERE were his style. It was time for a change but we were necessarily in a rush.
I had kind of given up on the hunt and decided to focus my efforts on wedding things. I figured we would get married, enjoy an adventure filled honeymoon and settle back into real life and start house hunting again. Boy was I wrong!
After getting our engagement pictures taken SL wanted to look at a house in the town we wanted to be in and I said I would go along but didn’t have high hopes…until I got there that is!
I loved everything about this house. It’s in a great location, has amazing curb appeal, has a huge front lawn and back lawn, 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen to die for and so much more. As perfect as this house is, we do need to do a few things to make it our own. Mainly, we need to paint, like EVERY room.
And we want to update the kitchen counters and backsplash. Right now, the countertops are green laminate…just not my style. And the backsplash has square, white tiles. I am hoping to update them to some nice subway tiles.
All of our changes will get done in good time. First an foremost though, the paint…all the paint. I am thinking we are going to go for a gray based, neutral palette like below.

I hope SL likes these because lets be serious, I not about to back down on this. I love color but I want to keep the walls neutral and add pops of color in each room. A pop of color is much easier to changes than a whole wall if I change my mind or the times change and people start hating on my “pop” of choice.
Time to get to work…I have to pay for this new house some how!
Question: Do like bright walls or do pops of color work for you?
Awesome for you guys!! So amazing!! Beautiful place!! Wow, what a beautiful, new adventure!! XOXO
hahahahaha chotchkies…what in the world is a pop of color?
Congratulations! That’s huge! Now get ready for a virtually never-ending to-do list… Seriously though, it’ll also be a ton of fun.
We mostly did “pops” of color in the rooms because we have high ceilings and lots of trim so painting the walls in colors just seemed like it would be overwhelming. I like the idea of going with neutrals because you can get away with moving things from room to room and still have them look good.
