I Need to TRI Harder

So I have a triathlon in 3 weeks. Truth. I have done next to nothing in terms of training. Now, this is not a race I am trying to win and I am confident I could go into it without much training and still finish. But I would probably finish last, and I don’t want to do that either.

triathlon set up

I’ve competed in the Brickman Tri before so I am familiar with the super flat course and I know what to expect during the swim too because its a pool swim. So now it’s time to buckle down and get to work training.

Here is my plan for this week – please by all means, if you are reading this, HOLD ME TO IT! I am still in summer mode and therefore snubbing the idea of a schedule…but I need to schedule more, I just need to.

Monday (today): R.I.P.P.E.D. (I just signed up online so now I have to go)

Tuesday: Run 30 mins.

Wednesday: Bike 45 mins.

Thursday: Run 30 mins.

Friday: Swim 30 mins.

Weekend: Cross train (aka do fun active things!)

Now, time to buckle down and get to work!

Weekend Review and Week Ahead

After a beautiful sunny weekend it is back to real life. This weekend was full of outdoor activities.

Saturday

beach day

Beach yoga followed by a beach day! Mugsy, Michele and I headed down to the beach at 8:00 am on Saturday for a very relaxing beach yoga class. I was not sore from the half marathon but I was so stiff. I felt completely out of yoga shape. I can run 13.1 miles but after a few downward dogs my shoulder and wrists were killing me. Good thing I signed up for a few more beach yoga classes, my body must really need it.

Right after yoga, SL and I headed to another beach for the day. He played volleyball (he is very competitive) and I hung out with my BFF Zanna and some of SL’s friends who showed up as well. It was very relaxing and very hot. Much needed after the polar vortex that was this winter.

Saturday night SL and I headed to a little cafe where our friends where performing.

They cover any and everything. We heard some Ke$ha, TI, some country songs I didn’t know, old school rock and my favorite I’m Gonna Be by The Proclaimers. They were great and it was great to have a low key night where we actually got out of the house as well.

Sunday

Sunday was another gorgeous day mostly spent outside. My friend Michele had her baby shower and I died looking at all of the cute baby boy clothes. I honestly think I love baby boy clothes more than baby clothes after shopping for her. They are all SO adorable. Here is one of the outfits I bought.

The shower was outside at her parent’s house which has the most amazing view. I could have stayed all day but Sunday night chores were calling my name so unfortunately I had to leave around 3:30 pm and go grocery shopping, prep for the week and cook dinner.

Wednesday – Swim / Barre Class

Thursday – TRX / Night Run

Friday – Swim

Saturday – Beach Yoga / Run

Sunday – Maybe a bike ride?

Is anyone participating in the #30SummerDays photo challenge? If so, today’s theme is “Manic Monday! What’s giving you a case of the Mondays?” It’s smooth sailing for me so far but I am sure something Monday-esque will happen eventually!
